Non-government organization of Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad oblast Centre for nature conservation research and initiative (CNCRI) was created by the group of biologists of the Saint-Petersburg State University dealing with nature protection (D.N. Kovaliov, G.A. Noskov, D.V. Osipov, A.N. Ostrovsky, I.Yu. Popov, T. A. Rymkevich). The main focus of the CNCRI is a nature protection in a sense of conservation of biodiversity and natural environment. The major activities take place mainly across the territory of Northwest Russia and neighboring regions.
